Is the Next Generation More Ready Than We Think?
February 03, 2026
2.3 e& Hall
Public discourse often frames young people through the lens of risk — skills gaps, disengagement, or readiness deficits. Yet today’s generation is also the most connected, informed, and globally aware in history. Growing up amid rapid technological change, social transformation, and global uncertainty, young people are developing new forms of resilience, adaptability, and leadership that are not always recognised by traditional institutions.
This session asks whether the next generation is, in fact, more ready than we think — and whether governments are ready to meet them where they are. Bringing together youth ministers and global leaders from diverse regions, the discussion will explore how young people are shaping culture, work, civic engagement, and innovation. The conversation will focus on shifting from protection-led youth policy to trust-based partnership, examining how governments can unlock youth potential by redesigning systems around participation, opportunity, and agency.
