Governor, Central Bank of the UAE

H.E. Khaled Mohamed Balama has been Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE since April 2021, bringing over 30 years of expertise in banking, asset management, and financial services. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Indiana University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) since 1995. Prior to his appointment, he served as Vice Governor of CBUAE and held senior roles at Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, including Executive Director of Real Assets. Under his leadership, CBUAE has implemented key initiatives such as the Targeted Economic Support Scheme (TESS) and strengthened anti-money laundering frameworks. He also serves on boards of major UAE financial institutions and is Vice Chairman of Gulf Payments Company. His tenure emphasizes monetary stability, financial resilience, and innovation in the UAE’s banking sector
