
Donna Strickland
2018 Nobel Prize in Physics, University of Waterloo
Professor at the University of Waterloo, Canadian optical physicist and pioneer in the field of pulsed lasers. She was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2018, together with her mentor Gérard Mourou and Arthur Ashkin, in recognition of their "breakthrough invention in optical physics.” She is the third female scientist in history to receive the Nobel Prize in Physics.
