
Ahmed Ali Alraeesi

Professor Ahmed Alraeesi currently serves as the Vice Chancellor and a Professor of Hydrogeology at the United Arab Emirates University. With more than two decades of academic experience, he brings substantial expertise in teaching and mentoring graduate students. Over the years, Prof. Alraeesi has held several key leadership roles, including Associate Provost of Research, Chair of the Geology Department, Vice Dean of the College of Science, Dean of the College of Science, and Acting Dean of the College of Education. His research focuses on hydrogeology, water resources, and isotope hydrology. Prof. Alraeesi is actively engaged in national efforts to advance water sustainability in the UAE. He is a founding member of the UAE Intergovernmental Hydrological Program National Committee and serves on the board of the UAE Water Aid Foundation. He has also contributed to the Permanent Consultation Mechanism of the Groundwater Governance Project and was a member of the Emirates Scientists Council. Additionally, Prof. Alraeesi has been part of the National Committee on Combating Desertification. He was appointed by UNESCO to the Advisory Board for Open Science. He led several UAEU initiatives at COP28. His academic contributions include more than 70 publications in internationally peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, and he has presented at over 100 national and international conferences.
